Yorkshire, on the west coast of northern England, contains some of the most idyllic countryside in Europe. Many of Britain’s most famous citizens hail from Yorkshire’s sweeping hills and valleys, including actors Ben Kingsley, Patrick Stewart, and Judi Dench. Political rebels Robin Hood and Guy Fawkes came from Yorkshire, as did William Wilberforce, one of the first prominent Europeans to stand against slavery. Yorkshire is also the setting for James Wright’s (aka, James Herriot) well known autobiographical story “All Creatures Great and Small”. Spectacular scenery, as seen in this jigsaw puzzle’s depiction of a Yorkshire sunset, has led some to call this area God’s Own Country.
