Roman Coliseum Interior Jigsaw Puzzle

Roman Coliseum Interior Jigsaw Puzzle

The view of the Roman Coliseum seen in this online jigsaw puzzle shows the interior which could hold 50,000 spectators. The coliseum’s arena had a wood floor covered with sand. The wood floor is no longer present exposing the many compartments underneath. These compartments were animal cages, holding areas for the gladiators, etc. There were various doors in the arena floor from which animals and gladiators would be brought up from underneath. Tunnels extend outside the coliseum making it easier to move animals, gladiators, and props back and forth from the outside without going through the crowds.
