Jumping Spider Jigsaw Puzzle

Jumping Spider Jigsaw Puzzle

Among the 5000 known species of the spider family Salticidae (better known as the jumping spider), perhaps the most beautiful species member is the Phidippus putnami. Phidippus putnami are covered with long, multi-colored, feather-like hair in striking patterns, and feature great, round, black eyes. This jigsaw puzzle shows the jumping spider in striking detail.

The jumping spider’s vision is more acute than most spiders, allowing them to focus on moving prey and extending into the ultraviolet, although they are day hunters. Jumping spiders only use their spinnerets to form a silk tether before they jump, leaping on their prey like the great cats instead on ensnaring in silken webs.  These amazingly exotic-looking spiders are native to North America.
