Hadrian’s Wall was built by the Roman Empire during the reign of emperor Hadrian in 122 AD. The 73 mile stone wall traverses northern England from the North Sea to the Irish Sea, south of England’s border with Scotland. The wall marked the northern limit of the Roman Empire.
