Bald eagles, such as the one shown in this jigsaw puzzle, have amazing eyesight. As you can see in the picture, the eagle’s eye is very proportionately large for the size of its head. In fact, a bald eagle’s eye is almost the same size of that of a human. However, because bald eagles use their eyesight for hunting, and therefore survival, their eyes must be must sharper and more sensitive than that of a human. Eagles have two centers of focus in their eyes, allowing them to see forward and off to the side at the same time. They can see fish from hundreds of feet above the water, and scientists believe that a bald eagle can detect a small animal such as a rabbit moving up to a mile away.
