The elephants in this jigsaw puzzle are African elephants. This species is one of the largest species of elephant weighing more than either the Indian or Asian elephant. Because these elephants have large tusks, which are actually the second incisors, they have been hunted and poached. Recognizing poaching as a serious issue that has endangered the species, the government has set forth laws to keep these animals protected. This photo was taken at an African safari tour in Kruger National Park.
