The Irvine Great Park in Orange County, California, occupies the territory of the former El Toro Marine Corps Air Station. When the Great Park project is completed, it will form one of America’s largest metropolitan parks.
The Great Park Carousel installation shown in this jigsaw puzzle is located in the Western Sector of the Park, part of Phase One of the project. It was launched in October 2010 on the occasion of the Harvest Festival. The colorful, old-fashioned carousel features twelve new hand-painted panels depicting Orange County’s heritage, thirty jumping horses and menagerie animals, two chariots and two standing horses. It was originally located on Fashion Island in Corona del Mar, California.
